Colonial Christmas In Williamsburg

I found these photos at http://www.history.org/
Colonial people used fruits and other natural materials to decorate at Christmas time I think they are so pretty. Note the pineapples at the top. The traditional Colonial symbol of Welcome.
The other photo shows what seems to be lighting torches outside the homes- what a flame he has going there!

  1. I've always wanted to visit Colonial Williamsburg, and now more than ever! I love that big basket of kindling he's lighting -- I wonder if they put something fragrant in it, to scent the air for guests -- hmmm, I'd like to have one of those "torch-baskets" or whatever it is! Could put some juniper boughs in it to burn!

  3. When you see a doorway decorated like that it makes you feel like walking in and also feels like you are welcome. Wish my door looked that great.
