Pioneer Progress!

I found this photo of a pioneer woman doing laundry. Since she is using a wringer washer the first thing that came to mind was how things had changed for her. No more dragging her laundry down to the creek bed!
I am sure she was greatful not to have to wring out her laundry by hand and that her clothes dried quicker!

  1. I can remember using my mum's mangle (wringer)as a child, it did sheets great. I have one in my kitchen but only for decoration and it still works....Hugs Chrissy x

  3. It is Debra. If you click on the label 'Mr Darcy' on my blog & scroll down you will see Mr Darcy laying on it....I have a great local antique shop that has a list with my name on it...hehe...and when the mangle came in they phoned me, had to have it (of course). I have 2 others but they are not as grand as this one...I also have them looking out for a vintage dress form for me, fingers crossed.....Hugs Chrissy x

  7. My DH works at a Museum and they have some really neat old ones there too. The town he works in is where the first washing machine was invented (I am pretty sure) They rearrange the museum a lot so you get to see new things when you make repeat trips. A fun place to go.
I love old vintage (Pioneer type) pictures of any kind. I have a Pioneer room in my house and will have one in the next house when we move in 2 weeks...would love to do the whole house Pioneer style (at least for the decor :)
    Hugs...Nancy
